Warning SF - Aftermath (Mausoleum Records)
Release Date: 2002

The roots of Warning go back to 1982 to San Francisco. But the band never really succeded. Now, founder and guitarist Jon Torres (former Laaz Rockit, Angel Witch, Thunderhead, and many more) together with original bass player Brian Poole decided to re-record seven of their old tracks. Surprisingly these songs do not sound old-fashioned. Indeed they are quite fresh. Warning SF, joined by new musicians, play typical US melodic power metal with some thrash elements. The sound is very powerful and blows your speakers. The songs are mostly mid-tempo with lots of melodies. Only “Thunderhead” and the thriving “The Noose” are a bit faster. To highlight one of the seven songs would not make any sense because they are all on a very high level. Besides the songs, vocalist Torre Christiansen is the most enjoyable factor of the record. With his powerful yet melodic voice he gives each song something special. The three bonustracks were still recorded with the old vocalist Rob “The Hammer” Halverson back in the 80s. These are classical old-school tracks of which “Not A Chance In Hell” takes you back to the really early Slayer stuff. For maniacs of the US-old-school, these songs might be revelation. The re-recordings are more than just an alternative for metal heads who dig into high quality. “Aftermath” is a great record with damn good songs!
